CREAM SOAP MAKING COURSE

What is 'cream' soap ?

Cream soap is a rich, fluffy soap that is the consistency of cold cream. You have the option of keeping it in a jar or diluting it so it can be used in a normal pump dispenser.

What will I learn on the course ?

Natural cream soapmaking is a relatively new technique and is produced using either the quick cold process method or the longer hot process. You will learn both techniques. The hot process takes several hours of cooking but you end up with a soap that you can use within a few days. The cold processed soap needs to cure for six weeks before use. The hot processed soap can be used after one week.

Whilst you will learn the techniques and make batches at the course it must be understood that both methods require refrigeration for several days during which time the soap will 'rot' (disgusting technical term). Much of the magic will be evident after you get home as you watch your soaps changing texture and turning from a lumpy play dough consistency to a creamy dream soap. At the course there will be 'some soaps we made earlier' so you can see what to expect.

Why should I do this course ?

One of the advantages of cream soap is that you can suspend additives in it to create gently exfoliating or really scrubby effects. You can also use additives such as Aloe Vera juice to enhance the lather and to make the soap truly gentle.

What can we take home with us?

We run a shop at the course where you can buy ingredients and equipment so that you are ready to make more soap when you get home. You will also have complete course notes and a cd containing some very useful software designed to help you with formulations. You will each take some of the soap home with you. You will also find that you have made a lot of new friends who share your interest and hopefully you will take home their telephone numbers ! The course also includes a scrummy vegetarian lunch.

The inclusive cost of this course is £95
