Face creams and lotions are emulsified, natural oils that can be designed for any specific skin type. The art is in understanding the qualities of the oils you select and learning how to adjust the viscosity so that it is easily absorbed by the skin but doesn't leave it feeling heavy or greasy. When formulated correctly, natural face creams and lotions nourish the skin and will not irritate sensitive areas.
What will I learn on the course ?
On this course you will learn how to make creams and lotions from scratch, how to create your own formulas and how to make additional products such as cleansing lotions, ointments and lip balms. You will learn the advantages of adding special ingredients such as exfoliators and clays and how to fragrance your creams/lotions with essential oils. You will also learn how to preserve your products so they have a long shelf life
How do ointments and lip balms differ from creams ?
Ointments and lip balms are usually wax based and do not contain any water, they have a heavier texture than creams and are an excellent alternative to the many petroleum based products available on the market today.
Why should I do this course ?
If you care for your skin or if your are thinking of running a soap and toiletries business your creams will provide you with personal skin care solutions and a natural add-on to your range. If you are already addicted to the pleasures of using natural and essential oils, cream making enables you to make the most use of their benefits as no saponification with caustic soda is required.
What can we take home with us?
We run a shop at the course where you can buy ingredients and equipment so that you are ready to make more creams when you get home. You will also have complete course notes and you will take the products you have made, home with you. You will also find that you have made a lot of new friends who share your interest and hopefully you will take home their telephone numbers ! The course also includes a scrummy vegetarian lunch.
